Program for the Study of Developed Shorelines (PSDS)
PSDS Program :Dr. Margarita Stancheva is a Research Fellow to the Program for the Study of Developed Shorelines (PSDS), Western Carolina University – USA. PSDS takes a worldwide view of modern coastal processes and geologic hazards, examines the scientific basis for managing developed shorelines in a time of rising sea level and advocates for the development and implementation of responsible strategies, plans, policies and actions that promote the long-term sustainability of the nation’s coastal ecosystems. One of the fundamental goals of PSDS is to serve as a primary technical and policy resource for a variety of beach management issues and to provide information, data and advice to federal, state and local government agencies; the media, concerned citizens; the scientific community; nonprofit organizations and other concerned stakeholders. ICAN
International Coastal Atlas Network (ICAN)
Dr. Hristo Stanchev is a member of ICAN Technical Working Group. ICAN is a community of practice of organizations who have been meeting since 2006 to scope and implement data interoperability approaches to coastal web atlases (CWAs). In 2013 ICAN became a project of UNESCO IOC´s International Oceanographic Data and Information Exchange (IODE) Programme. The mission/strategic aim of the IODE ICAN project is to share experiences and to find common solutions to CWA development (e.g., user and developer guides, handbooks and articles on best practices, information on standards and web services, expertise and technical support directories, education, outreach, and funding opportunities, etc.), while ensuring maximum relevance and added value for the end users.
