We are very glad to announce a significant milestone in the BLUE CONNECT project: the successful establishment of Local Stakeholder Working Groups (LSWGs) across the 12 Demonstration Sites (DS). This achievement was met in December 2024 and marks a pivotal step in fostering stakeholder collaboration and building the foundation for effective site management and conservation.
The LSWGs have been established to either support existing networks or create new ones, ensuring diverse stakeholder representation. These groups include key actors such as marine protected area (MPA) managers, regulators, land and sea planners, local officials, sector representatives, NGOs, and scientists. By prioritizing inclusivity, the LSWGs aim to bring together voices from various sectors, encouraging a holistic and co-ownership approach to marine conservation.
