MARSPLAN-BS II thematic e-workshop on coastal and marine tourism in the Black Sea

The thematic e-workshop was held on November 5th, 2020 under the project agreement EASME/EMFF/2018/1.2.1.5/01/SI2.806725 „Cross border maritime spatial planning in the Black Sea – Bulgaria and Romania - MARSPLAN-BS II”, co-funded by the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (EMFF) of the European Union.

The meeting was carried out in video-conference format and hosted by „Ovidius” University of Constanța. Representatives of all project partners took part at the workshop.

The participants discussed on strengths, weaknesses and future trends for development of the tourism sector in context of the MSP. The project partners presented their analysis and opinions on the trends of development of the sector in Bulgaria and Romania, coastal and maritime tourism-driven LSI challenges, the possibilities for protection of underwater cultural heritage and its tourist potential, the possibilities to adapt tourist activities to the present situation and their restoration after COVID crises.

Participants noted that coastal and maritime tourism are crucial sector of the Blue Economy in Bulgaria and Romania and unfortunately, they are the most impacted by COVID-19 pandemic and with a long recovery path.

CCMS team presented “COASTAL AND MARITIME TOURISM-DRIVEN LSI CHALLENGES FOR BULGARIA”.
