MARSPLAN BS II (funded by the European Commission (DG MARE), Executive Agency for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (EASME) under the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (EMFF) of the European Union, Grant Agreement: EASME/EMFF/2018/1.2.1.5/01/SI2.806725 - MARSPLAN-BS II) was presented at the BSEC PERMIS’s latest ‘National Consultation’ workshop on 29 March 2021 about its flagship Blueing the Black Sea Programme (BBSEA) to tackle marine pollution and catalyze 'blue economy' investments in the Black Sea region focusing on Bulgaria. The workshop was, held in conjunction with the World Bank, the Black Sea Commission and the Bulgarian Government’s Ministries of Environment and Water, Regional Development and Public Works and Transport, Information Technology and Communications.
The most recent outcomes of the project MARSPLAN-BS II were presented by Mr. Angel Gyorev, Project Coordinator, who emphasize the importance of project deliverables in support to the implementation of the EU MSP Directive and the national maritime spatial planning (addressing also the Multi-Use Concept and Land-Sea Interactions).
The Bulgarian ‘National Consultation’ was distinctive in that it also featured a presentation on a recent Policy Note: Toward Blue Economy Development in Bulgaria, a report developed by the World Bank in collaboration with the Bulgarian Government. It emphasises the economic value of Bulgaria’s Blue Economy which potentially can provide a sizable contribution to the country’s post-pandemic recovery.
