MAY 23-27, 2022. VIENNA, AUSTRIA. EUROPEAN GEOSCIENCES UNION (EGU2022)
The Geomorphology Session GM6.7 on: “Coastal Zone Geomorphological Interactions: Natural versus Human-Induced Driving Factors” was successfully conducted for the fourteenth time at the EGU 2022 General Assembly, 23-27 May 2022 in Vienna, Austria. This year’s conference format was fully hybrid, with presenters both in person at the Austria Centre Vienna and remote via the Zoom Meetings system. With the invaluable help of the in-room technical assistant the session ran very smoothly.
Contributions to this session were focused on a wide range of topics, including environmental recovery from heavy metal contamination in estuaries, controlled flood basins, coastal erosion case-studies in Sicily as well as on Greenland, modelling of coral reef development as well as beach bedforms around buildings, and marina planning in the context of shifting sediment. The session topics also included methodological studies considering remote sensing techniques for beach surveys and automated toolkits for monitoring coastal change.
The session included 11 presentations by authors from a wide range of countries around Europe, attended by a good-sized audience occupying the room to near-capacity and with several dozen online participants.
The session was conducted on Tuesday, 24th of May, chaired by Dr. Andreas Baas (UK). A detailed list of presentations can be viewed online at www.egu22.eu.

MARSPLAN-BS II Fourth Steering Committee Meeting 29 September 2021 (Virtual)
On 29 September, 2021, the Fourth Steering Committee (SC) Meeting of the MARSPLAN-BS II project was successfully conducted. Due to the safety measures, the meeting was carried out in a video-conference format organized and hosted by the Ministry of Development, Public Works and Administration of Romania. All partners in the MARSPLAN-BS II project as well as representatives of European Commission`s DG MARE and CINEA attended the SC Meeting.
The Fourth SC Meeting aimed at providing an efficient communication and feedback platform on MARSPLAN-BS II progress of activities as well as achieved project results and deliverables.

MARSPLAN-BS II FINAL CONFERENCE: Lessons from the Black Sea for coherent cross-border MSP
The Final Conference of the MARSPLAN-BS II project was held virtually on November 25, 2021 (organised by the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Work – MRDPW, Bulgaria, project coordinator of MARSPLAN-BS II). The project is implemented with the financial assistance of the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (EMFF) of the European Union (EU) via the European Commission`s Directorate General for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (DG MARE) and the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Agency (CINEA) under the Multi-beneficiary Grant Agreement EASME/EMFF/2018/ 1.2.1.5/01/SI2.806725. The project runs from July 2019 till the end of 2021 and its main goal is to support coordinated cross-sectoral Maritime Spatial Planning in Bulgaria and Romania in the framework of EU MSP Directive 2014/89/EU and to establish a long-term mechanism for cross-border cooperation in the Black Sea Basin.
Over 80 participants from different organizations attended the conference, including representatives of the European Commission`s Directorate General for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (DG MARE) and the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA); the Black Sea Commission, the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation, members of MARSPLAN-BS II Advisory Board and all project partners.

APRIL 19-30, 2021. VIENNA, AUSTRIA. EUROPEAN GEOSCIENCES UNION (vEGU2021)
The Geomorphology Session GM6.6/NH5 on: “Coastal Zone Geomorphological Interactions: Natural versus Human-Induced Driving Factors” was successfully conducted for the thirteenth time at the vEGU 2021 General Assembly, 19-30 April 2021 in Vienna, Austria. Actually, this year’s session was only organized from Vienna, while all the conference attendants joined via Zoom Meetings system. Despite some technical problems on the first day, the session ran smoothly, and all apart one presenter were present via online system.
Contributions to this session were focused on wide range of topics, including the mechanisms triggering coastal flow slides, vulnerability of coastal deltas, trends in shoreline variability driven by anthropogenic factors, coastal dunes as natural coastal protection measures - all these addressed also the many natural and anthropogenic factors.
