APRIL 19-30, 2021. VIENNA, AUSTRIA. EUROPEAN GEOSCIENCES UNION (vEGU2021)
The Geomorphology Session GM6.6/NH5 on: “Coastal Zone Geomorphological Interactions: Natural versus Human-Induced Driving Factors” was successfully conducted for the thirteenth time at the vEGU 2021 General Assembly, 19-30 April 2021 in Vienna, Austria. Actually, this year’s session was only organized from Vienna, while all the conference attendants joined via Zoom Meetings system. Despite some technical problems on the first day, the session ran smoothly, and all apart one presenter were present via online system.
Contributions to this session were focused on wide range of topics, including the mechanisms triggering coastal flow slides, vulnerability of coastal deltas, trends in shoreline variability driven by anthropogenic factors, coastal dunes as natural coastal protection measures - all these addressed also the many natural and anthropogenic factors.

MARSPLAN-BS II Online thematic e-Workshop: Ecological protection of coastal areas and oil spill response. Organization and capabilities
The thematic e-workshop “ECOLOGICAL PROTECTION OF COASTAL AREAS AND OIL SPILL RESPONSE. ORGANIZATION AND CAPABILITIES” was held on 10th of March, 2021 under the project agreement EASME/EMFF/2018/1.2.1.5/01/SI2.806725 „Cross border maritime spatial planning in the Black Sea – Bulgaria and Romania - MARSPLAN-BS II”, co-funded by the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (EMFF) of the European Union. The meeting was carried out in video-conference format and hosted by “NIKOLA VAPTSAROV” NAVAL ACADEMY - Varna. Representatives of all project partners took part at the workshop.
As partner in the MARSPLAN-BS II project, CCMS presented a study on „Environmental Sensitivity Index Classification of Bulgarian Black Sea Shoreline in Response to Oil Spill”.

MARSPLAN-BS II project at the “BLUEING THE BLACK SEA” NATIONAL CONSULTATION WORKSHOP IN BULGARIA
MARSPLAN BS II (funded by the European Commission (DG MARE), Executive Agency for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (EASME) under the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (EMFF) of the European Union, Grant Agreement: EASME/EMFF/2018/1.2.1.5/01/SI2.806725 - MARSPLAN-BS II) was presented at the BSEC PERMIS’s latest ‘National Consultation’ workshop on 29 March 2021 about its flagship Blueing the Black Sea Programme (BBSEA) to tackle marine pollution and catalyze 'blue economy' investments in the Black Sea region focusing on Bulgaria. The workshop was, held in conjunction with the World Bank, the Black Sea Commission and the Bulgarian Government’s Ministries of Environment and Water, Regional Development and Public Works and Transport, Information Technology and Communications.
The most recent outcomes of the project MARSPLAN-BS II were presented by Mr. Angel Gyorev, Project Coordinator, who emphasize the importance of project deliverables in support to the implementation of the EU MSP Directive and the national maritime spatial planning (addressing also the Multi-Use Concept and Land-Sea Interactions).
CCMS AT THE ESPON PEER LEARNING WORKSHOP: THE ROLE OF MARINE SPATIAL PLANNING IN REDUCING MARINE POLLUTION IN THE BLACK SEA (Virtual)

CCMS Director, Dr. Margarita Stancheva was a keynote speaker at ESPON PEER LEARNING WORKSHOP, conducted virtually on 15 December 2020 and presented how the integration of Land-Sea Integrations (LSI) into the MSP can help to reduce marine pollution in the Black Sea. Dr. Georgi Parlichev, member of CCMS Foundation Council, gave reflections on the topics and presentations as key local stakeholder.
